Just Me

It can be difficult to find work that resonates with personal meaning without bludgeoning its viewer to death with it (Also known as "I swear to God if I see another frikkin closeup of a crying eye with the world in the teardrop I'm gonna explode" and "We get it! You think you're deep" syndrome)
This piece however, is a breath of fresh air. Emotional without resorting to cheap appeals it allows for personal interpretation without being bland and designed for group appeal.
It doesn't hurt that the technique is gorgeous, well textured and subtle in its use of light and shadow.
The art is smart, and utterly clinical in its use of visual shorthand and light/darkness. The small white mushroom could easily have been visually exalted (by making it brightly colored or glowing) but nesdam is too goddamn smart for that nonsense, and instead it is merely different.
Is the small white mushroom inferior? Superior? Young? Old? Alone...?
The viewer is allowed to project their own concept of what sets it apart, and that's a rare thing to find in a community as divisive and unfortunately juvenile as Deviant Art.
I've begun to ramble....
I like the piece.
